Transitioning to the Digital Classroom Part 5: Full Online Classroom

Is the Full Online Classroom what we really want?

Here it is, the other end of the spectrum.  We have reached the Full Online Classroom, but is this where we want to go?

What we deal with in this final episode of this series is defining and describing the full digital classroom and how it has a place in the spectrum.  We also look at a reasonable, and I believe necessary, question of whether this model is truly best for most students and situations.  In the pandemic of 2020 most teachers were moved to some form of remote learning without warning and preparation.  For some the full digital online classroom was the answer, but in most cases the examples of this type suffered from the haste with which they were implemented.  To be clear there is a place for a full digital classroom, and I am in fact running one as I write this that was built with care and planning to address the needs of the pandemic of 2020, but I don’t believe this is the ideal solution in most cases.  Join me for this discussion.
